This eclectic warehouse conversion was inspired by the building’s striking architecture and the client’s passion for colourful artwork and cultural artefacts collected on his travels around the world.
Originally a one-bedroom studio, the apartment required a sophisticated and complex redesign to transform it into the light-filled two-bedroom home it is today. The building’s Grade II listed exposed brickwork, dark radiators and original Crittall windows informed a strong industrial aesthetic that complements both the client’s distinctive furniture and his vibrant art collection.
Two impressive handcrafted double sliding doors, fitted with Buster and Punch metal handles, divide the apartment into living, sleeping and study areas while maintaining the openness of the space. Between them sits the kitchen, where a concrete worktop and industrial lighting create a focal point that brings balance and symmetry to the open-plan layout.
A palette of soft grey tones was used for the floors and walls, punctuated by a bold turquoise stripe that runs horizontally through the apartment, adding a dynamic visual element that ties the interior together.
The result is a characterful and creative home where industrial architecture, bold artwork and carefully considered design combine to create a truly unique living space.
